Greetings! I am Geung Soo Kim, Organizing Chair of 2021 World Dance Expo. The World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific (WDAAP) within UNESCO resolved at the General Assembly in 2017 in Adelaide, Australia, resolve that the World Dance Alliance Asia Pacific Conference 2021 be held in Seoul. Since then, the pandemic has restricted traffic around the world, resulting in cancellation of events or downsizing to online events.
Despite these difficult situations, however, the World Dance Alliance Korea (WDAK) continued to prepare the expo under the slogan, “We Are One.” Various on- and off-line programs have been arranged to make this a memorable meeting event between dancers and audiences around the world. As a result of close collaboration by Asian member countries of World Dance Alliance, we have created various programs such as Young Dance Festival, Color of Dance, Seminar, World Dance Expo, DADADA Festival, HANARO Festival, and World Gala.
We are living in the new era of K-culture Era. Following K-Pop, K-Cinema, and K-food, K-Dance is opening up. We are introducing Seoul, a city of Korean dance art, culture, and arts to the world through this expo, hoping to share the grand stature of our country with the world. Hosting the World Dance Expo in the capital of Korea, I expect we will lead the K-Dance Era and will contribute to promoting South Korea to the world.
I extend my respectful gratitude to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and all related officials for supporting us in hosting this expo. Also, I would like to welcome all art lovers from all over the world who participate in this event online and encourage to please enjoy the beauty of Korea. I invite you all to Seoul, the city of culture and arts. Thank you!
